How we build it right

The process behind concrete sidewalks & walkways built to last

Credibility comes from how it's built, not from promises. Here's the order of operations on every concrete sidewalks & walkways job.

01

Subgrade compacted and proved

The subgrade is prepped, compacted, and checked over the sand and limestone so the path keeps its line rather than heaving and dropping panel to panel.

02

A four-inch base

A walkway takes a four-inch base, the depth foot traffic wants, with structural fiber and welded wire mesh through it so the slab works as one piece.

03

Joint spacing set right

Control joints go on a spacing that hands the slab defined lines to flex along as the ground takes on and sheds water through the seasons.

04

Water pitched off

The fall is set so summer rain leaves the path rather than pooling, since water standing on sandy ground undercuts the base and slicks the top both.

05

Broomed for footing

A broom finish adds grip through rain and the occasional icy morning, keeping the path safe for a resident, a student, or a visitor.

Why Lucky's

The one you don't have to worry about

01

We answer, and we come back

Most contractors vanish after the deposit. We pick up the phone, show up when we say, and stand behind the work after the truck leaves. The follow-through is the difference.

02

Managed crews, our name on it

A foreman we know runs your job and a vetted crew does the work, managed by Lucky's, one company accountable from the first call to the final walkthrough.

03

Fully insured, paperwork-ready

COI and lien waivers on file before we break ground. The documentation that lets commercial clients pay and gives homeowners peace of mind.

04

Built right, not cheap

Prepped subgrade, reinforced and mixed to spec for the job, and proper curing. We build credibility through the process, not promises. On concrete sidewalks & walkways, that starts with subgrade compacted and proved.

FAQ

Gainesville concrete sidewalks & walkways, answered

How much does a concrete walkway cost in Gainesville?

Walkways price on width, thickness, and base prep over sandy soil, plus the slope and slip-aware finish summer rain wants. Most open from $8 to $13 per square foot, firmed up after we pace the run with you.

Can a trip hazard be fixed without replacing the whole walk?

Often. A lone panel raised by ground movement or a root can usually be ground flush or pulled and repoured on its own, no full tear-out. We work out what lifted it and steer you to the lasting fix. On a busy student block, clearing a raised edge early keeps people safe.

Why have my walkway panels lifted at the joints?

Under the panels the sandy soil takes on and sheds water unevenly and settles them at different rates, with roots pushing it along. On the repair we rebuild and prove the base, add fiber and mesh, and set fresh joints so the same movement does not return.

Can you build ramps that meet ADA requirements?

Yes, to the grade and surface accessibility calls for, finished with a slip-aware texture for wet weather. Point out the entry and the ramp is poured to fit the way in.

How do you space the joints on a walkway?

Spacing tracks the slab's width and thickness so movement stays in hand. Too few joints is where random cracking starts, and sandy ground that drains and shifts leaves no slack.

When is a new sidewalk ready to walk on?

Give it a few days to gain strength before use, a bit more when the humidity is heavy. Dates for your pour are set out up front.
